Chalice and Jar

I made a chalice and jar in maya by using the revolve tool and the EP curve tool. For my Chalice and Jar project I used the revolve tool. You pretty much start out in a side view and you take the EP curve tool and you draw the half side of a cup. Then after that you hit the revolve tool and it spins the curves to make a cup.

I really like this tool because it makes all my round objects easier to model and it makes the shapes symmetrical too. It is also really quick and saves time to work on the other details. This has been my favorite tool that we have used in the past 2 weeks. The only bad thing about this tool is it can make the textures look really weird. Other than that it's a great tool.

Salt Shaker

I made a salt shaker in maya by using the Planar tool. I didn't really like using the planar tool to make this kind of an object. It also wouldn't let me use booleans on the salt. I probably could have used the revolve tool to make the salt shaker instead.

The things I did like about the Planar tool is it curved the middle of the shaker more and I had more control of the curves. Another thing I liked about it was I could fill in the empty spaces like the bottom of the shaker with the planar tool. Other than those few things that I didn't like about the tool, it was pretty easy to make.

Ice Cream Parlor

I made an Ice Cream Parlor in maya by using the simplest objects. Everything was pretty easy to make, I had some struggling with the ice cream texture because the texture moves around when it should stay in place. I used all the booleans to connect and form all the objects like the ice cream cone stand and the ice cream scoop. We learned how to animate rotated objects like the lazy Susan. I reviewed grouping objects together and also reviewed how to use keyframes. This project was probably one of the easier projects we have done in maya and I quite enjoyed it too. The only thing I would change about this project is the textures because I don't like how they move around a pivot. other than that it was a great project.

3D Bounce

In this project we used a real bowling ball, tennis ball and golf ball to animate the balls we made in maya.
